Smith Breast Center at Baylor College of Medicine Evaluates OpenClinica for Enterprise-wide Use
Cambridge, Massachusetts (PRWEB) October 2, 2007 -- Akaza Research, the leading provider of OpenClinica clinical trials software, and the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center at the Baylor College of Medicine, are collaborating to determine the feasibility of using OpenClinica on an institution-wide basis for clinical studies.
"OpenClinica's open source and standards-based approach makes it a good choice for use across our institution's heterogeneous research environment," said Pam Mayfield, Programmer Analyst at Baylor. "For example, we seek to integrate OpenClinica with our existing applications and workflows, and extend the system based on emerging standards such as CDISC and caBIG," she added.
As part of the relationship Akaza will provide implementation and ongoing support and maintenance for OpenClinica at the Smith Breast Center. In addition, Akaza will assist Baylor College of Medicine in a collaborative process of assessing user needs and designing solutions to meet those needs.
Baylor College of Medicine will apply OpenClinica as a component of their suite of clinical research tools while integrating the software to work on top of their existing authentication systems and databases.
