Hartwick College & Lakeland College Join Tuition Rewards Program

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) November 21, 2007 -- Dr. James Johnston, CEO of SAGE Scholars, the nation's first savings plan exclusively devoted to private colleges and universities, today announced that its Tuition Reward Plan has signed its 203rd and 204th member colleges, Hartwick College (Oneonta, NY) and Lakeland College (Sheboygan, WI).

Hartwick, located in the northern foothills of the Catskill Mountains, is home to 1,480 undergraduate students. Hartwick plays NCAA Division 1 men's soccer and swept the 1977 national championship. Climate change is the school's 2007-08 academic theme. Hartwick provides a wide range of internships and multiple study-abroad opportunities that often become part of the school's one-course, four-week January term. Hartwick is the 16th New York State private college to join the Tuition Reward program.

Lakeland offers undergraduate and graduate degrees. It is home to 4,000 students on a campus an hour north of Milwaukee, not far from Lake Michigan. Lakeland is the 13th Wisconsin private college to join the Tuition Reward program. Affiliated with the United Church of Christ, Lakeland was founded in 1862.

There are now 105,085 students enrolled in Tuition Rewards, which is the largest U.S. private college savings program (as measured by participating students and by assets under management).

The Tuition Reward program brings together three separate groups -- families, colleges and financial institutions. If registered students attend one of the 204 participating private colleges, Tuition Reward points can be redeemed as scholarships -- of up to one full year's tuition.

Tuition Reward participants can invest in a wide variety of financial vehicles, including 529 savings plans, annuities, certificates of deposit, money market funds, and mutual funds.

In the past four months, several financial institutions joined the program, enabling their clients to earn Tuition Rewards: American Independent Marketing, GoldenCare USA, Great American Financial Resources, Horizon Benefits, Next Generation Financial Services, Producer's Choice (offering fixed index annuities from ING and Old Mutual Financial Services) and Trion. Other Tuition Reward partners include the Pennsylvania and Wisconsin state 529 college savings plans and Asset Marketing Systems.
